Interview: A Night with Kimberly J. Lewis at the Destiny’s Child Reimagined Tour

by Ldn Weekly

Interviewer: You recently attended the kickoff of the Destiny’s Child Reimagined Tour in the United States, specifically in Houston, TX. Can you tell us about that experience?

Kimberly: Yes, it was truly a special night. The tour kicked off in Houston, TX on January 9th in honor of Mathew Knowles’ birthday, which made the evening even more meaningful. I received an invitation and went with a few friends, and from the moment we arrived, it was sensational. The music, the ambiance, and especially the candlelight atmosphere created such an intimate and powerful experience. It felt celebratory, reflective, and inspiring all at once.

Interviewer: As a global DEI leader, how did this event resonate with you from an inclusion and diversity standpoint?

Kimberly: Inclusion is everything to me, and Destiny’s Child represents what it means to truly blaze a trail. They opened doors for so many artists who are considered diverse or come from marginalized backgrounds. Beyoncé, in particular, embodies that journey. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide and has achieved historic milestones, including becoming the first Black woman to win a Grammy for Best Country Album with Cowboy Carter. As of recent years, her net worth has reached approximately one billion dollars.

What truly stands out for me is how she’s leveraged her influence. Through ventures like Ivy Park and her philanthropic work with the BeyGOOD Foundation, she has invested back into communities—supporting HBCUs, disaster relief, and economic empowerment initiatives. Watching that legacy unfold, from Destiny’s Child under her father’s leadership to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history, was incredibly powerful. Being present at this event felt like honoring not just music, but possibility.

Interviewer: What did it mean to you personally to be part of this celebration of legacy?

Kimberly: It was truly an honor. To be able to celebrate the legacy, to witness how far the journey has come, and to experience the impact firsthand was deeply meaningful. It reminded me why representation matters and how visibility can change lives. The night wasn’t just entertainment—it was a reflection of perseverance, vision, and excellence.

If you know me, you know that I am a true daddy’s girl. My father, the late Rev. Dr. Tony L. Lewis was my world. As his only child, I’m responsible for carrying his legacy, so that is why I value the sacrifices Mr. Knowles made for his daughters.

Interviewer: For those who haven’t experienced the tour yet, what would you say to them?

Kimberly: If you haven’t experienced it yet, I highly recommend it. The Destiny’s Child Reimagined Tour is on the road and coming to cities across the United States. It’s something you don’t want to miss. Be sure to get your tickets at www.destinyschild.com.

Interviewer: And finally, how can readers stay connected with you?

Kimberly: I’d love to connect. You can follow me on Instagram at @KimberlyJ4Change, and on LinkedIn or Facebook, you can find me on my verified pages under Kimberly J. Lewis.
